The show will make its UK premiere at the Theatre Royal Plymouth in July 2024 before transferring to London’s Dominion Theatre from October 2024. The Devil Wears Prada musical is based on the 2003 novel of the same name by Lauren Weisberger and the 2006 movie adaption which featured Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway. Jerry Mitchell (Kinky Boots, Legally Blonde, Hairspray) will helm the new production, which has music by Elton John, lyrics by Shaina Taub and a book by Kate Wetherhead. Fresh out of college, aspiring journalist Andy scores a job at the prestigious Runway magazine working for fashion’s most powerful and terrifying icon — editor-in-chief Miranda Priestly. Sacrificing her personal life to meet Miranda’s impossible demands, Andy finds herself seduced by the glamorous world she once despised. His West End roles include Buck Barrow in ‘Bonnie & Clyde’, Dave in ‘Sunny Afternoon’. He had the title role of The Whicker Man at The Watermill Theatre. Jessica Lee will play Misa. Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC) and Neal Street Productions in association with Hera Pictures today announce a 6 week extension for the West End transfer of Maggie O’Farrell’s Hamnet, adapted by Lolita Chakrabarti (Life of Pi) and directed by Erica Whyman. Also announced today is the full West End cast. Joining the company are Gabriel Akuwudike (Bartholomew), Phoebe Campbell (Susanna), Mhairi Gayer (Tilly/Caterina/Landlady) and Liza Sadovy (Mary). Michael Harrison and David Ian announce casting for the first-ever UK and Ireland tour of The Drifters Girl, the acclaimed new West End musical which tells the remarkable story of one of the world’s greatest vocal groups and the woman who made them. Carly Mercedes Dyer, former star of Six the Musical and who delighted audiences with her performances as Erma in Anything Goes, will play music industry change-maker, Faye Treadwell. Carly will star alongside Ashford Campbell (who hit UK screens in ITV’s The X Factor as member of The Risk and now continues his journey with The Drifters Girl having performed as part of the West End company), Miles Anthony Daley (Tina Turner: The Musical, Aldwych Theatre; Choir of Man, Arts Theatre), Tarik Frimpong (The Wiz, Hope Mill Theatre; Aladdin, Prince Edward Theatre) and Dalton Harris, who won The X Factor in 2018. After devoting almost two decades to Emmerdale, TV star Matthew Wolfenden (Dancing on Ice, The Real Full Monty, Hollyoaks) will leave the hit soap opera and return to the stage by first starring as Buddy in the smash-hit musical adaptation of ELF! The long-awaited return of roller-skating musical is reportedly set for next year, in an all-new purpose built immersive production, similar to the long-running Bochum production. A child’s train set magically comes to life and the various engines compete to become the “Fastest – engine in the World”! The underdog, Rusty the Steam train, has little chance until he is inspired by the legend of the “Starlight Express” and ultimately defeats his arch-rivals Greaseball and Electra before going on to win the hand of the lovely first class coach, Pearl. The world’s only musical performed entirely on roller skates, the show premiered at the Apollo Victoria Theatre, London in 1984. The show went on to achieve international success with productions on Broadway, in Las Vegas, Japan, Australia, a North American tour and in a purpose-built Starlighthalle in Bochum, which remains playing since premiering there in 1988. The Bochum production also received a Guinness World Record for “The Most Visitors To A Musical In A Single Theatre” in 2010.
